What’s Houston going to look like in 50 years? In a hundred? By then we might be a mega-metropolis stretching beyond Highway 6 to the outskirts of San Antonio. Can’t happen? Well, that’s what the folks who lived in a suburb called Sharpstown used to think. In the lecture The Future of Houston’s Former Suburbs: A View from Sharpstown — Infrastructure, Education, and Quality of Life, Rice University Associate Professor Dr. Alexander X. Byrd will tell us what’s next for a neighborhood once thought far beyond the reach of Houston’s sprawl.
