42nd WorldFest - Houston International Film Festival

Watch, learn, do at this worldwide indie competition

At the 42nd WorldFest - Houston International Film Festival, you won’t just watch films, you can learn how to make them, too. You’ll see movies from all over the world: 55 features and 96 shorts are spread out over ten days. On today’s schedule, you’ll see Lucky Days, an American film with Rip Torn and Will Patton. Lucky, which is set in the summer just before the Coney Island amusement park was torn down, follows a group of Island regulars as they face the fact that the world around them is changing, whether they want it to or not. Other flicks to keep an eye out for are Canada’s Disappearing Male, France’s gender-bender La France and Italy’s bad-boy Waiting for the Sun. Production seminars on scriptwriting, publicity and distribution are also on the schedule for anyone interested in a DIY film career. Lucky Days screens at 7 p.m. AMC Studio 30, 2949 Dunvale. For information and a full schedule, call 713-965-9955 or visit www.worldfest.org. $6 to $295.
Mondays-Sundays. Starts: April 11. Continues through April 26, 2008
