We only have three minutes to make the world a different place,” says Houston slam poet Trinity. She says it’s a poet’s job to deliver the best thing you’ve ever heard, and she does with lines like: “I want to hold you like midnight skies hold stars.” Trinity and other members of the Houston Poetry Slam Team and Young Houston Writers Teen Poetry Slam will be among the spoken-word artists at the Houston Arts Alliance Showcase. The poets are known for their in-your-face accounts of life’s injustices and political outbursts, so you can expect the performance to be emotionally charged. 3 to 5 p.m. Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney. For information, call 713-333-1161 or visit www.discoverygreen.com.
