The Lion King was the hottest musical around in 2000, but it somehow lost the Oliver Award for Best Musical to the show Honk! A Musical Fable for Grown-ups. Then again, Lion Kingdidn’t have a chorus of tap-dancing frogs, did it? Honk! is a musical retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling. With comedy, music and tap-dancing frogs, the show is seemingly for kids, but there’s a sly wink to adults in there as well. 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Houston Community College, Theatre One, 3517 Austin. For information, call 713-718-6570 or visit www.hccs.edu. $5 to $8.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sun., May 3, 2:30 p.m. Starts: April 30. Continues through May 2, 2009
