Jerry Seinfeld

The “What’s the deal with…” comedian muses over Life (the cereal)

Jerry Seinfeld is still the master of the observational stand-up domain. Creatively, he has nothing left to prove — he could spend an hour on stage reciting Seinfeldquotes, as safe and familiar as a neighborhood coffee shop, and still thrill three-quarters of his audience. But the man who dared to ask “What’s the deal with…?” has tackled this tour with the eagerness of a comic who still loves his craft. Seinfeld’s new material, which covers advertising, cell phones and cereal (“Don’t you think it’s a little arrogant to call a breakfast cereal Life?”), is as sharp as ever, and his energy level has been high. Even if you’re paying for the nostalgia, you’ll get an influential comic who’s remained fresh for more than 20 years. We won’t blame you, though, if you imagine a drum strike after each punch line. 7 and 9:30 p.m. Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana. For information, call 713-629-3700 or visit www.joneshall.org. $45 to $75.
