Tim Brown: “Generations”

This artist sets up shop with items from his past

Is Tim Brown a pack rat or a historian? For his installation “Generations,” the artist stocked a faux flea market booth with relics from his childhood. Glass cases and spinning display racks are filled with old toys, magazines, photographs, notebooks and more. Each item is cataloged in a printed guide with information about how Brown acquired the object and why he’s holding on to it. A timeline is created through Brown’s possessions, as materialism is juxtaposed against sentimentality. He’ll show his stuff from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Through July 25. Box 13 ArtSpace, 6700 Harrisburg. For information, visit www.box13artspace.com. Free.
Saturdays. Starts: May 30. Continues through July 25, 2009
