Jack Heifner's 1976 play Vanitiesran for five years, and his musical revue Leader of the Pack(he wrote the book) was nominated for a Tony Award in 1985, so while he's not as renowned as Albee or O'Neill, he certainly knows what he's doing. In Natural Disasters, the two--comedy package currently at Theatre Suburbia, Tropical Depression has a hurricane, Twisterhas a tornado. But Heifner's characters are more than capable of doing serious damage all by themselves. In Depression, rich Texas housewives Gloria and Janine spend their island vacation buying junk and having affairs with lifeguards until a hurricane leaves them stranded in their hotel room. And in Twister, Betty and Roy, the lone survivors of a tornado that flattened a Texas town, have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to start all over again, if they can ditch the past along with their broken dreams. 8:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sunday, June 21 and 28.
