Washington-on-the-Brazos Fireworks

Web exclusive!

How better to celebrate the 4th of July than at the historic Washington-on-the-Brazos Fireworks display? (Yeah, yeah, Texas independence, American independence, not quite the same thing, but for the sake of partying, it’s close enough.) The festivities include a western swing concert followed by a huge fireworks display, which will seem all the brighter away from Houston’s city lights. 8 p.m. FM 115 Road at Washington Cemetery Road, Washington. For information, call 936-878-2214 or visit www.birthplaceoftexas.com. Free.
Sat., July 4, 8 p.m., 2009
