"The $29.95 Polyphonic Art Score"

Sketchy Artists draw upon their experiences with music

The "$29.95 Polyphonic Art Score"is music to your eyes. The exhibit features work from the members and friends of local drawing collective Sketchy Neighbors. "It's all music-inspired," says sketcher Anne Byrd. The group was approached by the Houston Chronicle's 29-95.com to draw up some tuneful pieces to be sold for, you guessed it, $29.95. The drawings range from Carlos Hernandez's signature Day of the Dead rock star posters to Luke Grochocki's abstract, minimalist interpretations of rock. There's also Byrd's expression of the shared motivation between artists and musicians with her piece It's in Your Blood, which depicts "hands above piano keys with long lines of blood dripping into a shell," she says. See what else gets penciled in from 7 to 9 p.m. Cactus Music, 2110 Portsmouth. For information, call 713-526-9272 or visit www.cactusmusictx.com. Free.
