See the first-ever local professional production of Thoroughly Modern Millieat the Texas Repertory Theatre. The show, which features new songs from the 2002 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival, is set in the roaring '20s. It's the story of an ingenue who sets out to conquer the Big Apple and find a rich husband along the way. "It's remarkably modern," says Steven Fenley, associate artistic director for Texas Repertory. "She's out to find her own way, which was unheard of in those times." Rachel Logue plays the irrepressible Millie. Audiences last saw her in the 2008-2009 Texas Repertory production of Smoke on the Mountain, and she just finished a turn in Grey Gardens at Stages. "She's just a wonderful talent," says Fenley. "She's very charming onstage and has a lovely singing voice." The production marks a bit of a departure for the company, which generally mounts smaller musicals, but the experience has been positive for the cast. "Having this many people tap dancing in our theater is just a kick!" laughs Fenley. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays. Held over through August 16. 14243 Stuebner Airline.
