What happens when Vera Carp, a proud member of the Smut Snatchers of the New Order, ends up in Las Vegas? A whole lot of laughing, at least thats what Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard are hoping for in Tuna Does Vegas. They are the silly threesome behind the Greater Tuna stories, a handful of comedies about Tuna, Texas, the third-smallest town in the state. Full of goofballs like Vera, whos always looking for new foul words to ban, the storyline has followed the denizens of the tiny town since the early 80s, even landing them on Broadway in the mid 90s.
In Tuna Does Vegas, they all head off to Sin City after townsfolk Bertha and Arles decide to renew their vows in that most famous of wedding cities. The rest of the town tags along, much to the lovebirds chagrin. But fans will be delirious when Williams and Sears don their goofy costumes (the two play all the characters while Howard directs) to take us to a place where Vera can smite sodomites all day long. The show starts this Friday. 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays. Through August 16. Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice, Galveston.
