There's no drama bigger than the one happening at your very own kitchen table. That's the basic idea behind Amaechi Felix Madueke's The Okra Principle, about three Nigerian brothers whose favorite food is the traditional Nigerian okra soup. Of course, soup isn't the problem; it's just the comfort food they eat whenever love troubles happen. Arinze is the oldest, and he's just plain tired of his marriage to a difficult, no-holds-barred woman. Nonso is married to a lovely woman, but the pair's cultural differences (she’s African-American) get them in trouble. Finally there's Chukwuma, the youngest, whose wife has a secret from the past. Full of questions, they all run to Marcel, the worst sort of confidant about love, since he's a ladies' man of the highest order. Nkem Oji, one of the film's promoters, says, "It's similar to Crash, where you have five different stories going at the same time and at the end you see how interconnected it all is." 7 p.m. Alamo Draft House Cinema, 1000 West Oaks Mall.
