Daniel Jacobus is the music teacher from Hell. He's grumpy, rude and wants nothing more than to have his students leave him be. But when he ends up at Carnegie Hall and a Stradivarius gets stolen, things get really bad for the old guy - especially after his arch-nemesis is murdered. And that's just the beginning of Gerald Elias's Devil's Trill, a murder mystery along the lines of a "Sherlock Holmes novel," according to McKenna Jordan, owner of Murder By the Book, where the multitalented Elias will play and speak about his murderous tale. Elias clearly knows his music - he's been the associate concertmaster of the Utah Symphony since 1988. And Jordan, herself a musician, was "immediately drawn into the book" in part because the main character is "a blind violinist who is a little bit crotchety. Because he's blind, his other senses are heightened and he uses them along with deductive reasoning" to catch a killer and prove his innocence.
