For some people, Labor Day means barbecues and maybe one more trip to the beach before that autumn chill creeps back in the air. Since Houstonians have to wait on that chill a little longer than most, down here Labor Day means it's time for Soulfest, the Continental Club's annual celebration of good-time, top-of-the-line Gulf Coast R&B. Anchored by the always enthusiastic Allen Oldies Band, this year's Soulfest lineup may be the best yet, with two local legends who are also enshrined on the mural across the street — Archie "Tighten Up" Bell and Roy "Treat Her Right" Head — and always-welcome Beaumont southpaw Barbara "You'll Lose a Good Thing" Lynn. Bell once sang that he can't stop dancing, and Saturday you won't either.
