Rock documentary D Tour chronicles the experience of a touring musician trying to keep his dream alive, even though his body is dying. While on the road a few years back, the multi-instrumentalist Pat Spurgeon of the band Rogue Wave was diagnosed with a serious kidney ailment. Spurgeon had received a kidney transplant a decade ago, and just when his band had begun its ascent to stardom, the new kidney began failing and put Spurgeon’s life and music career in jeopardy. (The Oakland, California-based band has been at it since 2002, recording three albums of scruffy rock and getting a few songs included on movie and television soundtracks.) The award-winning film traces Spurgeon’s journey through painful dialysis treatments and sketchy insurance providers — all while continuing to tour — set to the music of artists like Ben Gibbard and John Vanderslice. 7 p.m. Rice Cinema, 6100 Main.
