he Lighter Side of the Recession

Radio Music Theatre is laughing all the way to the poorhouse

Sometimes, when a situation is really bad — like the state of the global economy — there’s nothing you can do but laugh. And what better in Houston to make that happen than Radio Music Theatre’s latest production, The Lighter Side of the Recession? Steve Farrell, Vicki Farrell and Rich Mills are the inspired trio who play all of RMT’s characters, and Steve Farrell writes the side-splitting material. If you’ve never experienced an RMT show — despite the fact that these theater veterans have been doing their patented form of irreverent sketch comedy and live music for 25 years — Lighter Side is an ideal opportunity. The first act features a slate of sketches, followed by a one-act play about the Fertle family of Dumpster, Texas, and the dangers of lying during a recession. 8:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 8 and 10:30 p.m. Saturdays. Through November 21. 2623 Colquitt. For information, call 713-522-7722 or visit www.radiomusictheatre.com. $24.
Thursdays, 8:30 p.m.; Fridays, 8:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 8 & 10:30 p.m. Starts: Sept. 10. Continues through Nov. 21, 2009
