Traveling with Pomegranates: A Mother-Daughter Story with Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor

Let the mother-daughter bonding begin

We’re a few months removed from Mother’s Day, but you can’t ask for a more perfect (or cringe-inducing, depending on your gender) girl-bonding event than the book signing and reading of Traveling with Pomegranates: A Mother-Daughter Story, a new memoir by Sue Monk Kidd and her daughter, Ann Kidd Taylor. The book collects writings on the two women’s travels in Greece and France between 1998 and 2000. Sue’s portions of the tale detail both her dread of menopause and the struggle to begin what would become her hugely successful book The Secret Life of Bees, and Ann details a bout with depression brought on, in part, by a fear of facing adulthood. Blue Willow Bookshop hosts the event at the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. 12955 Memorial Drive. For information, call 281-497-8675 or visit www.bluewillowbookshop.com. Free.
