Ars Lyrica, the local group committed to bringing the Baroque, is kicking off its season with A Musical Offering. The group's stable of talented singers and players will perform works by Bach (Trio Sonata, Serenata: Durchlauchtster Leopold) and Telemann ("Paris" Quartet, Double Concerto for Flute and Violin). As always, Ars Lyrica will go to great lengths to make these pieces pitch-perfect. Modern musical equipment can't produce the sweet sounds theses musicians are striving for, so the ensemble uses only period instruments. 5 p.m. Zilkha Hall, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, 800 Bagby. For information, call 713-315-2525 or visit www.arslyricahouston.org. $31.25 to $41.25.
