2009 Free Night of Theater

Get your freak on (stagewise, that is)

If the economic downturn has kept you out of the theater lately, the Houston Arts Alliance has just the ticket for you. Working with Theatre Communications Group out of New York City, HAA presents the 2009 Free Night of Theater, which allows anyone in need of a theater fix to go online and claim two free tickets for a variety of shows running in the month of October. See everything from Shakespeare to August Wilson, opera to farce, all from organizations like the Ensemble Theatre, Classical Theatre Company and Houston Grand Opera. According to Richard Graber, director of programs and services with Houston Arts Alliance, "The goal is to turn people on to theater, dance and whatever other organizations want to participate." He adds, "Hopefully, the single ticket holder will become a subscriber." Starting October 5, Houstonians can go online and register for their free tickets. With more than 20 companies participating, the choices are wide and impressive. Various times and locations. For information, visit www.freenightoftheater.net. Free.
