Hail, heat, snow and 14,000 vertical feet — the Leadville Trail 100 is the Ironman of biking

Some of the world’s best cyclists endure extreme conditions during the grueling Leadville Trail 100 Race Across the Sky Mountain Bike Race. This year’s race (100 miles long and climbing 14,000 vertical feet) was captured in the documentary Race Across the Sky, which followed the 1,400 competitors from the starting gun to the finish line. Frontrunners Lance Armstrong, seven-time Tour de France winner and Austinite, and Dave Wiens, six-time Race winner and 2008 defending champion, will both be participating in a live panel discussion following today’s nationwide broadcast of Race. 7 p.m. Various locations, including Edwards Houston Marq*E 23 & IMAX, 7620 Katy Freeway.
