When it comes to entertaining little kids on Halloween, it can be tricky to strike a balance between inspiring giddy glee and total terror. Leave the spooking to the pros at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, where costumed kiddies can encounter "creepy chemists," "terrorizing taxidermists," "mad scientists" and millions of years' worth of very real skeletons - many of the Jurassic variety, of course. Tricks, Treats & T. Rex, a one-day variety show of fun-but-only-slightly-scary offerings, also features illusionist Steven Wallach. The kids can indulge in plenty of opportunities to strike a pose in costume - and, of course, a plethora of treats (though you might want to watch out for that Bug Chef...). 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Houston Museum of Natural Science, One Hermann Circle Drive.
