More About

Rob Zombie has been spending a lot more time behind the camera than behind the microphone lately — he's directed both Halloween and Halloween II since his last album, Educated Horses, came out in 2006. But the roots of Zombie's psychosexual cinematic creepshows lie in his music, which keeps one eye on the disco ball, the other on the crypt and a third eye on those caged go-go dancers. Last week, Zombie abruptly left his longtime label Warner Bros. for Roadrunner Records, taking forthcoming album Hellbilly Deluxe 2 with him. Expect heavy metal that moves from that one, its 1999 prequel and the White Zombie days that lurk in the shadows like a thunderkiss from beyond the grave. Opening are zombified rockabillies Captain Clegg & the Night Creatures, whom Houstonians may recognize as Jesse Dayton and his band, basking in their Halloween II cameo with songs like "Macon County Morgue" and "Honky Tonk Halloween."
