Josephine Meckseper: Artist Talk and Video Screening

What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?

As her first solo show in Texas is about to come to a close at Blaffer Gallery, Josephine Meckseper will host an artist's talk and video screening to accompany the exhibit. Meckseper will discuss the sculptures, installations and videos in the show, all of which focus on the inherent conflict of interest of the mass media, the petroleum industry and politicians with regards to the Iraq War. Meckseper has said, "What I try to do is to challenge ingrained perspectives, for instance leafing through a newspaper in which horror stories from Iraq appear side by side with underwear advertisements." 6:30 p.m. 4800 Calhoun. For information, call 713-743-9530 or visit www.blaffergallery.org. Free.
