Author Kenneth Breaux was at a New Year's Eve party when he met a young woman who told him about her father, Lieutenant William Lewis, who went down in a fighter plane during WWII and was considered MIA. Luckily, Breaux, a former soldier, had some experience in finding MIAs. He did some research and found that Lewis's plane had crashed on the border between East Germany and Czechoslovakia. He traveled to the town nearest to the site and found that a German civilian had witnessed the crash and buried the remains along with a piece of the plane. Breaux's book, Courtesies of the Heart, tells the amazing story about a cooperative force of American, German and Czech citizens who returned Lieutenant Lewis to his family almost 60 years after his death. Breaux will discuss his experience and sign copies of Courtesies of the Hearttoday at 6:30 p.m. Czech Center Museum Houston, 4920 San Jacinto.
