Touring Taste of Dance Salad

Relive last year's triumph while you wait for next year's performance

If you've ever attended Nancy Henderek's impressive Dance Salad Festival, you know it's more smorgasbord than salad - there's something for everyone and no one leaves unsatisfied. For those who can't wait until next April's Festival, there's Touring Taste of Dance Salad, video highlights from the spring 2009 show by filmmaker Bob Ball. It's a crash course in contemporary European dance, with Chinese dancer Xing Liang added for a dash of something different. There's Swedish modern master Mats Ek and wife Ana Laguna being sexy at 60, and excerpts from Flemish-Moroccan Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's From Origine & Myth, in which dancer Kazutomi Kozuki transforms into a shower head and cigarette lighter. (We kid you not.) Following the screening, Henderek will discuss the performances with the audience. 6:30 p.m. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-621-1461 or visit www.dancesalad.org. Free.
Wed., Nov. 18, 6:30 p.m., 2009
