American Graffiti Car Show

Drive yourself back to 1973

For most people, George Lucas's 1973 American Graffiti was just a movie - a really good movie, to be sure, but just a movie. For a few people, though, it became a way of life; these people enjoy cruising around in restored Mustangs and Camaros with the radio on the oldies station, pretending to be Richard Dreyfuss or Ron Howard, looking for a glimpse of Suzanne Somers in the next car. If this sounds like your scene, heads up: You can enjoy both your vintage ride and the classic movie at the same time at the American Graffiti Car Show. First, flaunt your vintage vehicle at a low-key car show, then head inside the theater for a screening of American Graffiti, complete with performances by Wolfman Jack, Harrison Ford, Kathleen Quinlan and, of course, Suzanne Somers. 4 p.m. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema/Mason, 531 South Mason. For information, call 281-492-6900 or visit www.drafthouse.com/mason. $7.
Sat., Nov. 21, 4 p.m., 2009
