More About

In 2007, the artists of the Mariinsky Ballet mounted a spectacular production of one of the most well-known holiday stories of the last century, The Nutcracker. Choreographed by Kirill Simonov, with sets and costumes by avant-garde Russian artist Mikhail Shemyakin, the production featured Irina Golub as Masha (the Clara character) and Leonid Sarafanov as the Prince, each of whom earned accolades and rave reviews. A taping of a 2007 performance, considered one of the most impressive in the last ten years, will be screened as part of the Opera (and Ballet) in Cinema Series. 7 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Silverado 19 IMAX Theatre, 24720 State Highway 249, Tomball. For information, call 281-290-0077 or visit www.santikos.com/operaseries.html. $15.
