PechaKucha: Houston

Because you want to hear from the artist...but not all night

PechaKucha: Houston is perfect for those who love to hear from artists...just not for more than, um, 400 seconds. The Japanese-derived event (the name translates to "chitchat" in English) gives architects and designers a chance to discuss their latest work, but limits them to only 20 images and 20 seconds of chatter per image. This is for a good reason, says PechaKucha's Web site: "Give a microphone and some images to an architect - or most creative people, for that matter - and they'll go on forever!" Taking on the time constraints here will be graffiti artist Gonzo 247, trash-to-housing guru Dan Phillips, mega marketing genius Javier Fadul of Culture Pilot and architect Nicola Springer. See what all pechakuchais about from 6 to 9 p.m. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer. For information, call 713-523-3669 or visit www.domystore.com. Free.
