Cosmic Celluloid: 2001: A Space OdysseyOne small step for computer-kind, one hell of a mess for manBy Olivia Flores AlvarezPublished on November 25, 2009 at 1:40amWhat if early on, human evolution had gotten a little nudge from some alien race? Say, in the form of a black monolith? That's the premise of Stanley Kubrick's landmark science-fiction film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The story begins when a group of cavemen discover the monolith, which sparks the next step in their evolution -the discovery of tools. Or to shut them down? 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 5 p.m. Sunday. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-639-7515 or visit www.mfah.org. $6 to $7.
