The Producers

Talk about having a fear of success

Mousy accountant Leo and failed Broadway producer Max have a plan: put on the worst play in the history of the world (a musical called Springtime for Hitler, in which the Germans win the war), watch it immediately fold and then abscond with all the investors' money. It sounds like a good scheme - that is, until the made-for-failure musical becomes an unbelievable smash hit. Mel Brooks's tale of theatrical shenanigans, The Producers, follows Leo and Max as they fumble through their ruined plot, all the while hoping for a miracle that will save them from their accidental success. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Through December 19. Playhouse 1960, 6814 Gant Road. For information, call 281-587-8243 or visit www.ph1960.com. $13 to $15.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Nov. 27. Continues through Dec. 19, 2009
