There are two reasons to see holiday flick Elf: Bob. Newhart. Sure, Will Ferrell is hilarious as the innocent, lovable Buddy the Elf, a human accidentally raised by elves in Santa's North Pole wonderland. And yes, James Caan has some brilliant bits as Buddy's reluctant newfound dad. Even Mary Steenburgen pulls off a few good lines as Buddy's bewildered stepmom who's trying to do the right thing, despite the fact that she can't quite figure out what to do with a six-foot-three stepson dressed head to toe in elf garb.
