The Town Center Theatre puts a slightly different spin on a familiar tale with Merry Christmas, George Bailey. A takeoff of It's a Wonderful Life, George Bailey is the story of a man so down and out, he's about to commit suicide on Christmas Eve. Luckily, his guardian angel steps in and shows him what the world would have been like if he had never been born - his wife, family and friends would have suffered unforeseen consequences without him in their lives. Town Center Theatre's Artistic Directors Chris Tennison and Joseph Milillo adapted the story for the stage and present George Bailey as a 1940s radio program, complete with actors voicing multiple roles and sound effects created onstage. Last year Houston Press arts writer D.L. Groover called the performance by Santry Rush, who will once again appear in the title role for this year's run, "amazing." 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Shenandoah Municipal Center, 29955 I-45. For information, call 832-592-9697. $10 to $18.
Dec. 17-18, 8 p.m.; Dec. 19-20, 3 & 7 p.m., 2009
