Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge

Who put eggnog in my whiskey?

Think Ebenezer Scrooge married to an alcoholic Mommy Dearest with a brood of 21 kids, and you've got some idea of the musical Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge. A parody of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, Mrs. Bob Cratchit is an alternative for all of us who don't really want to learn any warm and fuzzy lessons from a trio of ghosts, or change our miserly ways. This is especially true for those of us who have uttered the words, "Hey, who put eggnog in my whiskey?" or who have wanted to smack that ceaselessly cheerful Tiny Tim (doesn't he know he's got a bum leg and an uber-poor family?). Leona Helmsley (who could have used a few trips with the Ghost of Christmas Past herself), the Enron scandal, Touched by an Angel and Oliver Twist are all referenced by the pumped-up script from Christopher Durang. This is the last weekend to catch the harried Mrs. Cratchit, so get there before she sobers up. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Crighton Theatre, 234 North Main, Conroe. For information, call 936-441-7469 or visit www.stage-right.org. $12 to $17.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Dec. 4. Continues through Dec. 20, 2009
