Kids don't have to wait until the stroke of midnight to ring in the new year. The fun goes on all day at the Children's Museum of Houston's New Year's Noon Celebration. Get things started by making a float and joining the New Year's Day Parade (it snakes through the museum and grounds), then count down to a ball drop. After that, there are New Year's puzzles to solve, 2010 calendars to decorate and noisemakers that will drive adults crazy. The Texas Brass Band helps make things a little louder with a jazzy performance of kid-friendly tunes. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 1500 Binz. For information, call 713-522-1138 or visit www.cmhouston.org. $6 to $7.
