A Musical Evening with Kirill Gerstein

Here's an intimate preview of what you'll see later this weekend at Jones Hall

Here are a few hints about Russian pianist Kirill Gerstein’s impressive talents: Proficient in both jazz and classical music, he got into Berklee College of Music at age 14 (that school's youngest student ever), by 20 he had his master's degree and, oh yeah, he won first prize at the über-prestigious Arthur Rubinstein Piano Competition in Tel Aviv. You can see - or should we say, hear - for yourself at today's Musical Evening with Kirill Gerstein, being presented by the Russian Cultural Center Our Texas. Houston Symphony Music Director Hans Graf will introduce Gerstein in what promises to be a truly electric performance. (The two will pair up again this weekend when the pianist is guest soloist for the Houston Symphony's performance of Rhapsody in Blue.) See Kirill in an intimate setting today at 7:30 p.m. 2337 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-395-3301 or visit www.ourtx.org. $15 to $20.
