Jordan Fuchs Company: Thicket and Strange Planet

This dance concert defines the phrase "new and different"

Today's performance of Thicketand Strange Planet by the Jordan Fuchs Company kicks off a three-day run at the Barnevelder Movement/Arts Complex. The show will be performed in-the-round, with the audience sitting on the stage floor circling the dancers, and with the soundtrack created live for individual headphones worn by each member of the audience. A performance of Thicketlast year prompted Village Voice dance reviewer Deborah Jowitt to say Fuchs was "redefining chaos." Thicketfeatures four dancers, and press materials say the work "explores an environment that grows more and more dense with the entanglements of human interactions." We're not entirely sure what that means, but it sounds fun. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m. Sunday. 2201 Preston. For information, call 713-529-1819 or visit www.barnevelder.org. $14 to $18.
