The Bettie Page Tribute Night

An homage to a pinup queen takes a page out of her book

The Bettie Page Tribute Night puts the tease back in striptease. “It’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m about to take this off. You guys really want to see this? Are you sure?’” explains Miss Coco Letric of Austin’s burlesque troupe The Jigglewatts. “There’s a lot of humor in it. There’s a lot of wink-and-a-smile.” Coco and company will tip their tassels to the late pinup queen with a history lesson that includes videos of performances and a live show inspired by Page’s style of flaunting — and celebrating — her sexuality. “[It’s] to show how much fun we’re having and to show that it’s fun being a woman. It’s fun to be sensual, it’s fun to be funny and cute…it’s fun to not be a size two,” says Letric. 7:30 p.m. Alamo Drafthouse, West Oaks, 1000 West Oaks Mall. For information, call 281-920-9211 or visit www.drafthouse.com/westoaks. $12.
