There's a good chance Rebecca Wadlinger will try to win you over at today's installment of the Gulf Coast Reading Series. "My general rules for reading are to keep it short, and to try to make the audience laugh at least a couple of times," says the poet, translator and UH Creative Writing Program Ph.D. candidate. "I always keep in mind how generous the audience is to give me their time and attention, so I try to be charming and entertaining." Wadlinger, whose work has been featured in the Best New Poets anthology, will read a slate of original work, as well as some of her English translations of Norwegian poet Gro Dahle (on the off chance that someone in the audience doesn't speak the Bokml dialect, we suppose). She'll be joined by fellow grad students Will Donnelly and Briana Rochelle Olson, who will both read original fiction selections. 7 p.m. Brazos Bookstore, 2421 Bissonnet.
