Canadian metallers Anvil, whose current tour mysteriously became "The Anvil Experience" a few weeks back, got a welcome blast of newfound adoration on the heels of 2008's Anvil! The Story of Anvil. Sacha Gervasi's excellent rock doc traced Anvil's lagging career and attempt at reinvigoration, chronicling lead singer Steve "Lips" Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner's humble beginnings starting a teenage metal band in the early '70s and eventually touring and playing with the likes of Motörhead and Judas Priest in the '80s. A sad series of managerial screw-ups and missed chances meant Anvil never quite got a foothold in the industry, but Lips and Robb endured, recording eight albums on various indie labels and maintaining a dedicated following. The film was one of last year's best-reviewed films (it debuted at Sundance two years ago this month) and brought Anvil's brand of thrash to a whole new audience of metalheads and curious onlookers. The band is touring behind the newly re-released This Is Thirteen, the recording of which is hilariously chronicled in the flick (now available on DVD).
