Mrs. Mannerly

Mind your...oh, forget it

Jeffrey Hatcher's stage comedy Mrs. Mannerly is anything but polite. Tony Award nominee Josie de Guzman is Mrs. Mannerly, an etiquette teacher who prides herself on the fact that no student has ever earned a perfect score in the 36 years she's been teaching. Alley Theatre associate director and longtime company member James Black is Jeffrey, a young boy out to snag a perfect score or discover Mrs. Mannerly's deep, dark secret, whichever comes first. At the climax of the memory play, the two square off at an etiquette demonstration for the Daughters of the American Revolution (yeah, like that's going to go well). Mrs. Mannerly is smart, funny and filled with dipped-in-honey irony. 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays, 2:30 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sundays. Through February 28. 615 Texas. For information, call 713-220-5700 or visit www.alleytheatre.com. $40 to $65.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 29. Continues through Feb. 28, 2010
