For millions of devoted listeners, the week just isn't complete unless they've heard the soothing vocal intonations of Garrison Keillor, as he hosts the radio variety program A Prairie Home Companion. Most, of course, don't get to see the author/humorist/musician as he performs, since he records the show on a stage way up in Minnesota. Today, in a first for the 35-year-old program, a two-hour installment of the show, A Prairie Home Companion - LIVE in HD, will be broadcast live in high definition to movie theaters around the country, including several in the Houston area (an encore performance will be screened February 9). "After all these years, we're starting to get the hang of doing this show and feeling like we're ready for the big screen," quips Keillor. The lineup for the storytelling, music-making, high-jinksing extravaganza features a number of usuals, like actors Sue Scott and Tim Russell, sound-effects experts Tom Keith and Fred Newman, and the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band. See what you've been hearing all these years at 7 p.m. Various theaters, including Houston Marq*E Stadium 22, 7620 Katy Freeway. For information, visit www.ncm.com/fathom. $18 to $22.
