"Skeez 181: 1000 Faces"

A solo-show virgin goes it alone

Skeez 181's art career is an anomaly: Eighteen years as a talented artist have yielded countless canvases, commissions and sculptures, but zero gallery shows. "I'm the type of artist that forever believes in not keeping my work," the graffiti-style devotee says. "I either sell [my paintings] or give them up. I'd rather see them on the street or in somebody's gallery or room." He'll break new ground with "1000 Faces," a one-night solo exhibit at Summer Street Studios featuring screen prints of his older pieces, as well as eight new acrylic works, 50 sculptures and two films. In addition to Skeez's bold work, which combines elements of Aztec culture, futuristic imagery and graffiti, Aztec dancers will be on hand to kick off the opening, and at least two DJs will spin tribal dubstep throughout the night. Not a bad way for an artist to lose his solo-show virginity. 7 p.m. to midnight. 2500 Summer Street. For information, visit www.skeez181.com. Free.
