Clizia

A father, a son and the woman they both love - a recipe for heartbreak

Audiences will have to imagine the legendary beauty of Clizia; the object of desire for both Nicomaco and his son Cleandro, she's never seen onstage. Written by Niccol˜ Machiavelli (yes, that Machiavelli), Cliziais rarely performed despite its being riotously funny. That makes it perfect for the Classical Theatre Company's Douglas Earle Johnston Reading Series. CTC's Executive Artistic Director John Johnston says via press materials, "Cliziais a rare comical treat from the author of The Prince. It is hard to believe that the same man who wrote such a clinical dissection of how to rule a city state could also pen this romantic comedy." 6:30 p.m. Brazos Bookstore, 2421 Bissonnet.
