STOMP

These performers make music with oil drums and brooms, not instruments

Back in the early '90s, a UK street band named Pookiesnackenburger hooked up with a theater group called Cliff Hanger, and the results of this artistic marriage are the stuff of theatrical legend. They created STOMP, a hugely popular and award-winning traveling performance group that's been going strong for almost two decades and stops in Houston today. Today, STOMP is made up of several companies who beat their way around the world, performing without music or words. Instead, the dancers/musicians use oil drums, trash can lids and brooms to create a fabulous, percussion-filled performance. 8 p.m. Friday, 5 and 9 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday. Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana. For information, call 713-227-4772 or visit www.spahouston.org. $22 to $62.
Fri., Feb. 12, 8 p.m.; Sat., Feb. 13, 5 & 9 p.m.; Sun., Feb. 14, 3 & 7 p.m., 2010
