"Eileen Maxson: Orphans of Failure"

Images old and new explore twin years 1993 and 2010

Eileen Maxson remembers the '90s in "Orphans of Failure." The exhibit features images salvaged, or made to look salvaged, from 1993 Ñ a year whose calendar, Maxson explains, mirrors the days and dates of 2010's calendar. "My Quantum Leap, Back to the Future fandom is saying that this is a cracked door, a chance for renewal," she says in her artist statement. The show is a mix of videos and images featuring relics of the past: 1993 calendar pages, VHS tapes, the Twin Towers, hard copies of pet photos (these days they're just posted on Flickr or FaceBook) and double-exposed images (a misprint that's long gone, thanks to digital cameras). There's an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 13. Regular viewing hours are noon to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. Through May 6. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer. For information, call 713-523-3669 or visit www.domystore.com. Free.
