Choreographer Christopher Bruce sets a story to Hush
Singer Bobby McFerrin, most famous for his 1988 tune "Don't Worry, Be Happy," teamed up with cellist Yo-Yo Ma on a 1992 album called Hush. That music became the soundtrack for a quirky, comic ballet by Christopher Bruce, in which he tells the story of a family of performers. Hushis one of three pieces in the Houston Ballet's current show, American at Heart. There's also George Balanchine's Apollo, about the Greek god and his education under three muses, and Jerome Robbins's 1944 Fancy Free, set to music by a then-unknown talent named Leonard Bernstein and about three sailors on shore leave. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday.
