Houston's new mayor Annise Parker is still getting used to her duties as the city's head honcho. While we're sure some of the things on her to-do list aren't entertaining (such as increasing city services while lowering costs), she's sure to find today's BBVA Compass Tour de Houston a lot of fun. Along with state Senator Rodney Ellis, Parker will lead the ride, which starts and ends at City Hall. The three distance options - 70-mile, 40-mile and 8-mile - have staggered start times, so the expected 5,000 riders will have plenty of room to maneuver around. The fun isn't over at the finish line, though. The day's festivities include a post-race party. 7 a.m. to noon. 901 Bagby. For information, call 832-393-0868 or visit www.bbvacompasstourdehouston.com. Free to $35.
