Read in deep, movie guy voice:In a town full of aspiring filmmakers, one contest determines who among them can work best under a deadline. Stop. The 48 Hour Film Project gives local camera-heads a weekend to write, act and edit a short film. The best entries - as determined by a panel of experts and local audiences - advance to the national competition. Today's Houston 48 Hour Film Showcase rewinds 2009's winners in hopes of inspiring filmmakers for this year's contest in April. Event coordinator Laura Schlecht has chosen a handful of audience and judge favorites, including the mockumentary Saving Our Suburbs and last year's winner for Best Film, Best Writing and Best Musical Score, Subterfuge.
