"Perspectives: An Intercultural View on American Values"

Artists from around the world look at the elements that bind Americans together

Photographer Joe Baraban went window shopping for the works he presents in "Perspectives: An Intercultural View on American Values."Literally. Baraban says, "For the past two and a half years, I've traveled around the state looking at and photographing old windows..." Baraban says he's less interested in the architectural details of the windows than in the transient nature of our culture. "As I stand there deciding whether to include the window in my collection, I can't help but wonder who the last owners were. What did they see, and what were they thinking when looking out this particular window for the last time?" The images seen in this show are from Baraban's Windowsseries, which was just purchased by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
