Rice University and its hip-as-hell student radio station KTRU (91.7 FM) hold their 19th Annual Outdoor Show all day Saturday. The event has been a means for local indie bands in the past to rub shoulders with bigger acts, all within the friendly confines of the elite local college. Three years ago, Ratatat played the event with the like-minded 120 Days, enchanting untold amounts of hipster make-out sessions, while last year's coup was throwback pub-rocker Ted Leo & The Pharmacists. This year, one-man dance project Rafter headlines with Houston heavies Fat Tony and Ghost Mountain, plus four other rookie starters. It's a free gig, kids, so no excused absences, and please bring a few canned goods to donate to the Houston Food Bank.
